Israel Will Defend Itself Against Iran-(strike in near future)

In these days of uncertainty in the Muslim parts of the world.  What would be worse Pakistan getting its nukes taken over by terrorists or the country falling into chose and different power struggles going on all over Pakistan.  This will turn out to be alined in most cases like Iran.   We also now Libya under the control of terrorists and flying their flag, because of bad leadership in the United States.  This falls on the President and Secretary Hillary Clinton.  These two individuals are very bad for this country and our founding fathers put in place for our country, ONE NATION UNDER GOD!  We have had so many thugs in the middle east being ousted and Muslim Brotherhood replacing them.  What countries Egypt, Libya.  Now Syria is now going in the same direction new thugs looking to be in power.  Our President -Obama has made huge and catastrophic consequences in the middle east and will cause problems for years to come.


The UN's atomic watchdog is expected to say this week that Iran is secretly developing a nuclear arms capability.  Diplomats say the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report, due for release on Tuesday or Wednesday, will produce compelling evidence that Iran will find hard to dispute.  Iran has always insisted that its nuclear program is exclusively to generate power for civilian purposes.  The possibility of a military attack against Iran is now closer to being applied than the application of a diplomatic option.   If the United States does not take out Iran than we leave Israel with no choice.  Israel will protect themselves and they will strike and it is coming sometime in the near future.   What other evidence do you need since to include intelligence that Iran made computer models of a nuclear warhead, as well as satellite images of what the IAEA believes is a large steel container used for high-explosives tests related to nuclear arms.  Now the hardliner Iranian cleric Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami is now trying to through off the spot light on Iran's nuke program and says the IAEA is in the pocket of the United States.  Really, what else do you expect the other world leaders have to listen to the cleric and its country's President talk about taking its  neighbors off  the planet.   I only pray that these leaders take saber rattling off the table and talk out their differences in "PEACE"


I pray Israel will see attacks on her boarders be stopped and peace come over the middle east.  It only takes leadership to have peace instead of war.  These countries have been fighting for thousands of years stop the madness, live in peace stop hating.  We all believe in God let that be your starting point, peace will follow if you allow it to come.

Of boys and the rivers they must travel.

Author's program note. If you were a real boy, like my father and like me, you never saw a river you did not want to know better. But it had to be a river... a thing of shimmering possibilities, always moving, always beckoning, never the same, not even for an instant.

This thing called to you, and sleep was always difficult when you were near a river traversed by people from far away places, who went where they liked, when they liked and had real lives like you could only imagine. And you did imagine, early and late... until the chance arrived for you to do more than imagine... to have instead the chance to see for yourself. For that is what you always wanted... and now that you are grown... you want it still, don't you? For when the river has seized your brain (as every river aims to do)... the river owns you for life... and you can never see one, a proper river mind, that does not, siren-like and luring, call you to come see what you know so well you have missed for so long.  For this article, I might have selected as incidental music Jerome Kern's iconic tune  "Old Man River" from the 1929 film "Showboat." But that tune is too dark and challenging for my purpose... and while Paul Robson's rendition is brilliant, it forces you to dig deep and think about things you might not want to think about just then.... for dreaming is what you want to do on the river... a very different thing from cogitation and ponderation.

Instead, I chose a song of the late nineteenth century, "Polly Wolly Doodle", first published at Harvard, my own alma mater, right across the street from where I am writing now. It appeared in a Harvard student songbook in 1880. It's a bouncy tune (what else would Shirley Temple have sung in her 1935 film "The Littlest Rebel"?); the kind of organized nonsense a boy would sing with the unabashed glee of unburdened mind, thrilled as he was to be on the river and away from mom who made him wipe his feet and wash his hands before dinner. You didn't know what a "polly wolly doodle" was, but you knew you would like it... You'll find the words and lyrics in any search engine. Go ahead, sing it. It'll lift your spirits and put you in just the right mood... the river mood.

Any river, not merely some river, no matter how great.

This is a tale about rivers, all rivers, not just some river, no matter how renowned, celebrated, powerful and captivating. This may rile the spirit of "Old Man River," the Mississippi, the greatest river on earth, but, with bold temerity, I remind this river's spirit that it is so great because all the rivers of this great continent pay it the full tribute of their every drop. And so this, while always being homage to you, is also tribute to all who share your sinuous attributes...

River folks

The Marshalls and all their branches, for all they were kin to statesmen as great and as different as Chief Justice Marshall of undying Supreme Court fame and a much later General of the Army and saviour of Europe George C. Marshall, had the itch to go West. And so, in due course, they came to see the great Mississippi flow from the vantage point of Stronghurst, Illinois, a piddling river town which even today can call hardly a thousand souls its own. But because of the river, which could take them anywhere, they put down deep roots in a  town from nowhere. And that river, its people and its cultures, bit deep.

My grandfather Harvey Lant, who died when I was young, must have felt that bite for he took his only son over ta' Burlington, 'cross the river, ta' where the great river queens held raucous court. It was because such royalty (especially the cassino boats and the showboats)  were gaudy, meretricious, of salacious intent and always deep in the ways of river trickery and hoodwinkery that the real ladies, the God-fearing, church-social ladies, the stalwarts of our lives, never went with their menfolk when they had determined, as my ordinarily mild grandfather now had, to see the great river and its ways close at  hand. The queens and the ladies did not  know each other.

Grampa had invited his nephew Richard, my father's cousin, to be a part of this strictly male, and as it happened unique event. The boy was anxious to go, would go, but as my father recalls, the youthful disdain and contempt abiding after 7 decades and more, he was "mollycoddled" by his stern mama Grace.... a woman of iron habits and high degrees of strictness, strictures, scriptures who made sure he would not go. My father, just 8 himself, recalls to this day the rue in that little pinched face as Richard was left behind and they set off.... Years later, when he was a wealthy man, this cousin confessed he remained deeply regretful, for the river had eaten in to him, too, at least a bit. Still... "Had he really wanted to go..." But with the mollycoddled, you could never tell....

And so this became because of one woman's worrying nature, a once-in-a-lifetime journey where one discovers along the way one's father... his values... and, the most important thing of all, his love for you...

Burlington, Iowa, now boarding for all the destinations on earth.

Even today when only the vestiges of Burlington's high-flying past remain, it is still possible to see this city as it wants to be seen... as a place of international demeanor and outlook, a place to connect anyone to anywhere he wants to go; not some hick town in the corn belt, but a grand destination, entirely familiar with gourmet foods (fresh local, too), the best wines of epoch vintages, high stepping musicales and painted ladies no better than they should be. This was possible because of the river and only because of the river. And grandfather thought my father should see it.. and I admire him the more for the thought, for perhaps he left behind a smoldering spouse, who would well and surely give him her unvarnished opinion later... in dinners a little overcooked... in favorite foods suddenly unavailable.. in linens changed less frequently and sour towels left a day too long ...  in dark glances and meaningful asides... all  this and more primordial evidences of unmistakable distaff disapproval, unanswerable, yet deeply felt and always clearly understood.

But that was later...

Now, in the midst of Depression ravaged Illinois,  with the land stalked by fears of every kind, they were en route to the Burlington Iowa bridge where you could see the river, broader here, and the fleet that would sail in your mind's eye for your whole life. And it was all happening in a place called Burlington, named after one of England's most stylish milords, a place that launched steamboats of beauty and renown.... and the railroad grandchildren Jeffrey and Kevin would take to the zoo in Hollywood, Illinois. But that was years from now, and unimagined.

What was the name of the ship? The odds were it would be queen of...,  belle of..., then one of the grand river ports whose names resonate... St. Louis, Cincinnati, Natchez, New Orleans... he thought it might have been the Delta Queen, and I hope it was; though my research showed that she was in Stockton, California those years. That was the ship presidents selected for a little cruise... and always the pictures for Life magazine.. Truman, Carter and Hoover did it... but Hoover did it later when the nation hated him less for doing so little when so much was required.

One day down to Cairo, one day back up.

You can imagine the joy of  this boy, the only son, so lucky so little touched -- yet -- by the economic maelstrom ... Here's a hunch why his father was so insistent about going now.  Like millions of fathers across the land, Harvey followed the dismal news and in this year of grace 1932, there was more to fear than fear itself. And so he decided that his son should have this treat before his ability to bestow such a gift was submerged by events. And so there was a great urgency about the matter...

Thus, from the Texas deck of a great queen, threatened like everything but majestic now, lightly passengered, theirs to enjoy, they followed the route of Huck and Jim to Cairo (Kay-Row), which made locals chuckle when the out-of-towners said Ki-Row, llinois...

Huck missed the turn to the Ohio River... and thus sent them into the Deep South, living hell for Jim as a runaway slave. This day the captain did not err; I doubt they would have minded if he had, and so they went to Cairo, a  place of dark beauty and diabolic secrets.. My father remembers nothing of that but recalls his father holding his hand as they moved along the swift Ohio... and the look in his eyes that day... a look he did not understand until he had an 8 year old of his own...

Author's program note. So, at last it came, after a thousand long years, then as swift as lightning... girl royals are now equals of boy royals, by parliamentary fiat and the Queen's own signature . And all the Founding Mothers of Women's Rights and Feminism are cock-a-hoop, equality in all occupations -- even the most august -- having always been their goal.

For such an epochal event, there must be music, bright, uplifting, girlish music, and so I have selected that curvaceous tune "I enjoy being a girl" from Rodger and Hammerstein's hit "Flower Drum Song" (1958). The only person who may be unhappy hearing it will be the first affected British prince... and he isn't even born yet.

Now thanks to the omniscient information services provided exclusively to only the best of commentators (ahem!), I am about to reveal to you the transcript of the critical interview between HM The Queen, HRH The Prince Charles The Prince of Wales; HRH The Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh, and Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Windsor Castle on a day not too long ago:

The Queen: "Well, what we've always expected has at last been proposed.  The Prime Minister has advised and the Cabinet has approved that princesses should now be the equal of princes in all matters, including The Succession. I have called this meeting of The Firm to discuss our options."

Prince Charles: "Queen Victoria would not have been amused, ma'am."

The Queen: "Or Queen Mary either."

Duke of Cambridge: "But we must move with the times, dear grandmama."

And upon hearing this the Queen gave an audible sigh... speaking thus with weariness and resignation:

"Every one of my Prime Ministers, starting with my first, dear Winnie, has been so advising me for 60 years now... and where has it gotten the  Windsors... or the nation?"

" 'Give up the Empire, Your Majesty,' they said, "And so, being only a young girl, though a sovereign queen, I did."

" 'Give up the right to veto legislation.' And, being a constitutional monarch I did, thereby affixing my signature while holding my nose to even the most daft and ludicrous ideas."

" 'Make such and such a one a baron...such and such a one an earl... and distribute knighthoods to all and sundry'; and I did this, too, giving honors to  those completely without scruples, much less honor... and I felt queenship to be a deception... yet I did all this and more for the dwindling cause of royalty."

"Yes, I did all this, and much more."

"I was advised to give up the Royal car on the railroads... to give up the Royal yacht which made such a grand impression on politicians and especially their star-struck wives... then I gave up the Royal plane...  and slashed the number of carriages... and the footmen and, and, and..."

And here Majesty took a moment to brace herself.

"And now I hear, dear Charles, that you wish to pull down Buckingham Palace and turn it into luxury flats. Can this, too, be true?"...

Prince Charles: "You have often called it a white elephant yourself, dear mama."

The Queen rises, and speaks not so much to the living princes before her but to her princely predecessors, the Plantagenets, the Stuarts, the Hanoverians, the latter day princes of Saxe-Coburg and, as last, her relatives of Windsor... and suddenly there is profound silence in this chamber hung with red brocade, gilded with gold, and graced by majesty.

"Have I kept faith with you, my ancestors... have I kept faith with you, England? Have I done what you wished... even when I thought better of it... have I stood before the nation at all times, in all seasons, in all situations, proud to be the queen of such a people and the worthy descendant of such princes as you were? Have I been a sovereign of nobility... of wisdom... of magnanimity... of grace... of cool reflection and of courage?"

And here she moved about the room, touching each picture with gentleness as if she were caressing a beloved relative, seen again with love, respect, and deep compassion.

There was no sound in the room... but each person in that room was touched to the very core of their being. For they were all, each of them, threads in the royal skein of England... and if they never knew it before, they truly knew it now.

Prince William, the white hope of the dynasty, graced with kindness and empathy, saw the Queen was tired now, leapt up to take her arm and kiss her cheek, for he was in himself a man of reconciliation and knew by instinct just when to move and what to do.

"We love you so, dear grandmama," and a tear came to them both.

And then Prince Philip jarred the atmosphere, as he had been doing for 60 years, "Oh, that's all very well, but what's to be done? This is no time to play the tragedy queen, you know."  And so they got down to the business at hand, the business of managing the greatest constitutional monarchy on earth, giving up as little as possible, keeping as much, for this constant nibbling, they knew, would never stop.

Was the government determined on the matter? "Of course," said the Queen, "for Conservatives are always the most revolutionary."

Have all the 16 Commonwealth nations been consulted? "Yes, and already they have all signified their acceptance."

And what about the prohibition on a sovereign being Roman Catholic? "That will remain in place for now, not even the greatest levelers in the land are prepared to open this Pandora's box in the face of all the current scandals, sexual and otherwise, at the feet of the Bishop of Rome."

At last the details having been canvassed and thoroughly vetted, the discussion waned. All had had their say but one, HRH of Cambridge, once Kate Middleton. "Have you anything you wish to say, my dear? Perhaps you prefer to watch, having been one of us for such a short time?"

But Kate of Cambridge did have something to say, and she took her line from Portia in "The Merchant of Venice."

"Your Majesty, dear  grandmama," she said...

"The quality of mercy is not strained..."

And the Queen knew the rest and thought the words in her mind as the duchess spoke them...

"It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest: It blesseth him that gives and him that takes. Tis mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes The throned monarch better than his crown. His scepter shows the force of temporal power, The attribute of awe and majesty, Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings. But mercy is above this sceptered sway; It is enthroned in the hearts of kings; It is an attribute of God himself, And earthly power doth then show like God's When mercy seasons justice."

Your Majesty achieved the crown not because you were the oldest but because you had no brother. Any brother, of whatever age, would have removed you from the succession and unjustly, too. With this act, you would have achieved the crown by right and equity. And consider this: no mother, not even a queen, should be forced because of the gender of a child to love a girl less than a boy. And therefore I urge you to see this bill as a matter of  fairness and love, and of mercy for a mother, not of loss and diminution. It is not like giving up a plane or boat for this is a matter of fundamental right and profound human need. This is something we must do, not because we are forced, but because we believe that this is right, for us and for all people."

And the Queen knew she had heard more than truth from her grand daughter... she had heard the heart and the humanity of a queen. And so she, in recognition, ordered lavish Christmas revels at Windsor, in honor of Duchess Kate and her unborn child, girl or boy, Heir of England... all liberally done and paid for from the privy purse, without demur.

Author's program note. If your neighborhood is like mine, you've got more immediate problems than immediate solutions. You're running a business and need more cash yesterday than is coming in today. You've got two choices: whine, complain, bemoan, and just roll over and die... or learn the essential lesson of how you get your business through difficult times by doing EVERYTHING you can to raise cash and keep your ship floating until better times roll in... as in due course they will.

To put  you in the mood for the  blunt  message that follows, I've selected the unmatchable music and message of "Some People"; Mama Rose's soaring, gritty, determined tune from the great musical "Gypsy" (1959). Turn up the music, which you can find at any search engine, and imbibe... 'cause this baby is going straight to your brain... and your resolution, commitment, and determination are about to surge!  Meet Michael Bisceglia, a man with a solution.

Michael Bisceglia is a jeweler, specifically an online jeweler, and that means, in this fall of 2011, that he's got problems. When a bearish economy blights the land, folks have other needs for their limited cash than buying bling... and this hurts Stauer... which hurts Michael. Now what?

Bisceglia has a survivor's outlook... that today must be taken care of... if there is to be a better tomorrow. To get through today,  Bisceglia is trying something that most people don't know and wouldn't do even if they could: trying an audacious strategy that needed to be bold... because Bisceglia's business is bad...  Here's how it works:

He selects an attractive item from stock, like a  $179 pearl necklace or a $249 amethyst necklace, and GIVES IT AWAY so long as the customer pays the $24.95 shipping costs.

That's right, Bisceglia gives away a "thing of beauty is a joy forever". He's crazy, right? And what's the catch? In fact, Bisceglia is crazy like a fox... and there is absolutely no catch. That's because he is approaching business salvation and growth from a new direction. He looks upon these special promotions as a means of acquiring crucial new customers... and he KNOWS that fully 1/3 of them will buy from him in the future at full price... and thus swell his coffers.

Because he's done this unbeatable offer before, he's got a good idea of what his results will be and, thus, approaches the next promotion with serenity. But this most assuredly was not the case the first time he did this. He could conjecture... he could surmise... he could deduce... but he didn't know. And that's why  Biscegia is a successful entrepreneur and survivor... because he knew when he was in trouble, brainstormed his options, did his homework, made his educated guess... and then went forward, even if he was privately sweating.

The first of his unprecedented promotions was a winner... and came to validate his audacity:

The last time this phrase made a public appearance, it was part of a "brand-new" dance called The Turkey Trot, back in 1900. Now they refer to the deep discounts which have come to characterize this year of grace, discounts retailers are giving; not, let's remember, because they like to, but because they feel they must given the persistent rotten economy, a cocktail composed of stubborn high unemployment, stock market turmoil, and an overall fragile U.S. economy. And this... a recent Gallup poll found that eight of 10 Americans think the country is already deep in a second recession and are cutting back accordingly.

What's more you can count on more of the same as the 2011 holiday sales season gets fully underway. This season is sure to see savage price-cutting by major retailers, eager to rack up profits, no matter how meager. There will be selected deep discount items to get you into stores... and bigger discounts once you get there.

And, of course, hanging over every discounted price and incentive there will be that shopper's heaven, the 'net with prices and deals designed to motivate even the most penny pinching. Whether you're in the business of selling to folks online or off, what's happening is about you. But are you conscious of these facts and the need to take the boldest of actions as early as possible? Here are some ideas that'll help:

1) Make a point of collecting the offers people in your field are making. By paying attention to what others are doing (even if they're holding their noses when doing it) you can begin the crucial maneuver of out positioning even the most savvy marketers.

2) Be aware, too, of the offers folks in any other field are offering. See if any of these offers can be transformed into motivation you can offer your customers. ALL marketers, in the name of satisfied customers of course, are Peeping Toms when it comes to scouting the best offers... then adapting them for immediate use, motivation -- and profits.

3) Start a blog and run ads to your list every single day. Blogs work when you've got interesting content... because, then, you can piggy-back your offers without fear your customers will unsubscribe your list. The more interesting the content, the less likely an unsubscribe. And where do you find such copy? jeffreylantarticles.com is one superb place.

4) Use a loss leader like Michael Bisceglia (though yours may not be as beautiful). Remember, most people believe we're mired in a second recession (we're not), but perception is reality...  and so if this is a proven way of getting new customers, use it. Your objective is to get through the malaise to prosper on the other side. Far too many business people made the crucial mistake of trying to sustain profits at pre-recession levels, when that wasn't possible or realistic... and they paid the price with an "out of business" poster on the door.

The good news: there is still profit out there!

Despite the challenging environment, revenue in November and December is expected to rise about 3 percent from those months last year. Such an increase -- below last year's 5.2 percent spike over 2009 -- would be above the 2.6 percent average gain during the last 10 years.... but this is still money in your pocket... and more importantly, the opportunity to make more when the gloom rises and happy days are here again.

I know Michael Bisceglia of Stauer will be amongst that number; he's proven his understanding and willingness to do EVERYTHING it takes to be tough, taut, and thoroughly prepared. Now what about you?

Of apples, apple cider, cider doughnuts. Edible autumn in New England.

Author's program note. The bounty of New England's small family farms is now available at road stands throughout the region. The weather, despite the wallop of Hurricane Irene, has been beneficial and the crops are ample. There is, therefore, enough for all.

I love this time of the year, and my neighbors do, too. We, though we abide in the region's cities, make a point of leaving our urban condominiums and walk-up apartments, glad for the opportunity to taste autumn. This is a yearly ritual which none of us wants to miss, for it calls us, if only for a moment, back to the land which is a part of all of us and which recalls us to a past which is for all of us at some point agrarian.

We are all of the land... and the farms and gardens, so picturesque in October, remind us where we have been... and of our forefathers... who kept faith with this land... tending it... nurturing it... protecting it... so that the land and their descendants might prosper together. Each rock that they used to build the fences that make good neighbors reminds us of our own families and the constant work that the land necessitates. The land demands... and we obey the land... for this is the way of the immemorial land and richness that comes forth if we but do our part. Apples are part of this land and this richness... and now is the high season of these apples.

Apples must be picked.

Each apple that you see has been picked. It's something we urban dwellers never think about and which industrious apple growers must never forget... for apples on a tree are useless to all but the birds which well know how to get their sweet juices.

In his poem "After Apple-Picking" (published in 1915) Robert Frost reminds us just how laborious it is to pick the apples. On his tiny New Hampshire farm, Frost tells us that in apple-picking time the farm and the needs of the crop determine all. Everything else must be put aside for now; this is the way of the insistent land, the demanding land, the land that dictates that which humans who desire the bounty of this land must do:

"And I keep hearing from the cellar bin The rumbling sound Of load on load of apples coming in. For I have had too much Of apple-picking: I am overtired Of the great harvest I myself desired."

Apples must be packed and promptly moved.

Apples, like every fruit of the farm, must be moved, for we buyers and eaters of apples are slothful and must be waited on. We will go on a yearly ritual of pilgrimage to the apples... praising farmer, land and crop.. .but we demand on all other occasions that the apples we so desire be brought close to us.

The apples I buy, for instance, come from Kimball Fruit Farm in Pepperell, Massachusetts. It is a far trek from Cambridge and so Carl and his helpers bring the apples to me in a local farmers' market, held each Sunday in Harvard Square until Thanksgiving. There after 10 a.m. (the strict opening time, not a minute earlier permitted)... I can fuss over the multitude of varieties, rejecting most, selecting just the most attractive, aromatic, and (I trust) delicious.

Even after his many other customers purchase (for Carl and Kimball have a following), the piles of apples are still heaping; each and every one must be re-packed, taken back to Pepperell, to be packed again tomorrow, moved again, scrutinized again, and so on until at last all the apples are gone. Carl, like Frost, gets overtired, too.

But apples are the pride of Kimball Fruit Farm... and their website boasts of over 40 varieties.... how many could you name? Baldwin, Blushing Golden, Brock, Burgundy, Cameo, Chesnut, Crab Cortland, Elstar... the list goes on an on, each one a pledge by Proprietor Carl that the land will be so cherished so that each of these apples will flourish in years to come, including one of the most beautiful apples of all: the Spencers which I crave. And so it has been going on for the thousands of years apples have been amongst us, starting in Western Asia, where the apple's wild ancestor, the Alma, can still be found today.

There are more than 7,500 known cultivars, resulting in a wide range of desired characteristics. So desirable are these characteristics that 55 million tonnes of apples were grown  in 2005, with a value of about $10 billion. China produced some 35 percent of this total; the United States was second with more than 7.5 percent of world production. Iran is third, followed by Turkey, Russia, Italy, and  India.

Many of these apples are eaten raw... but many are also transformed into that silky mixture called apple cider. I buy mine from Allen's Cider Mill in West Brookfield, Mass. The reason I initially bought from this stand at the farmers' market was that the fellow tending it looked so sad. I felt glad to lift his load just a smidgeon, but in truth I liked the product... and got in the habit of buying from him, though he is laconic to a degree and has never smiled in my presence or ever said a friendly greeting. I notice such things. A teen-aged boy of 15 or so helps the man out; it's probably his father. They look alike. I notice he never smiles either and that makes me wonder at the ways of genetics and family farms.

The label makes it clear that this cider must be refrigerated at below 40 degrees Farenheit  and wants you to know, too, that it has been ultra light treated for my safety... no preservatives... no additives... and is made of "washed sound ripe apples." I have never bothered with such cider labels before, but I am grateful for their care and practical concern, though I'd still like a friendly greeting, a smile, and a chipper query asking me how I like the cider, since I keep returning for it... and for the cider doughnuts, too, which I first sampled at this stand...

I was in a relaxed and friendly disposition the day I saw the hand-written sign about cider doughnuts and asked what they were. The answer was worthy of Silent Cal, Vermont's only president.  "Made with cider, instead of water," he said, as if each word was a treasure to be hoarded, not shared even for commercial gain. They were 50 cents each; I got one, the minimum risk... The next week I got 4... and devoured them at record speed, a new taste of fall... topped off with cinnamon and sugar. It is a delicacy indeed, and I can bear even the lack of amiability so long as there are cider doughnuts near at hand... and great, grand Spencer apples, too... and the smoothness of apple cider. For all of these together, and each distinct, is truly the apple of my eye... deserving of high praise, no waiting, please, for I have no patience, none at all.

But I do have a song to accompany so many delicacies. It's by the Four Lovers, "You're the apple of my eye." (released 1956). Go to any search engine to find it now... and enjoy. For you are "done with apple-picking now" and must take a moment to eat, savor, and thank. For apples and everything about them are a great joy and benediction. As you and I have known for a lifetime, haven't we?

China has reported an unexpected drop in manufacturing activity raising fresh concerns about the impact of a global slowdown on its economy.  China's economic growth has been powered by the success of its manufacturing and export sector.  However, fears of a slowdown in the US and Europe, two of the biggest markets for Chinese exports, have raised concerns on whether the sector can sustain its growth. The fears have been deepened further by today's data, which showed that the new orders index fell to 50.5 in October from 51.3 the month before.  Analysts said that as those regions grapple with economic problems, the effect was being felt by the Chinese manufacturers.

Here in the United States we need to put our Manufacturing back in our hands and take it from China, this will pull us out of any financial situation and put us back on track as a nation.  Roll back all these regulations that put hand cuffs on big business let them grow and make things that is what we need to do.                                                KICK BIG GOVERNMENT TO THE CURB

Europe and Greece Roll Over hard in Stock Markets. Can Germany save the euro?.

EU keeps writing off Greece's debt and Germany pulls it pockets out what money is left this seems to be a bad time for all of our leaders and cash flow.   Tuesday after investors were blindsided by a surprise call for a Greek referendum on an EU bailout plan, casting doubt on the sustainability of the recent market rally.

The S&P 500 has slid more than 5 percent so far this week in moves reminiscent of the stomach-churning market swings seen over the past two months and after investors thought the worst of the euro zone debt crisis was over.

The speedy pullback comes after stocks rebounded to post their best month in 20 years in October. The gains were fueled by hope for an eventual deal to rescue Greece, finally agreed upon at last week's European Union summit.  

The news slammed European stocks, particularly the region's banks , which slumped 6 percent. U.S. banks were also hit hard. Morgan Stanley, which investors worry has heavy exposure to Europe, fell 8 percent to $16.23.

Indexes swung sharply as successive European lawmakers lined up behind the bailout package but returned to close near session lows after a Greek government spokesman said the prime minister told his cabinet the referendum would go ahead.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 297.05 points, or 2.48 percent, at 11,657.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 35.02 points, or 2.79 percent, at 1,218.28. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 77.45 points, or 2.89 percent, at 2,606.96.

The selloff came on sharp spike in volume with 10.3 billion shares traded on the NYSE, the Amex, and the Nasdaq, 22 percent above its 20-day moving average, while the CBOE volatility index jumped 16 percent to 34.77, its highest since around mid-October.

Nearly six stocks fell on the NYSE for every one that rose. For the eurozone as a whole, the debt problem is comparable with that of the US, and potentially manageable.  The problem is that some eurozone countries are much more heavily indebted than others.  In October's deal some private sectors lenders have already agreed to write down the value of Greek debt by half.  Investors also think the Portuguese, Irish, and even the Spanish and Italian governments, may eventually follow suit.  But when bad debts get written off, someone has to take a loss.


Germany it seems is going to over extend itself to save the Euro.  I say move away from socialist programs and move to capitalism based markets.  Maybe you then could build your self's and not have to depend on a founded Union to bail each other out of bad business moves. 

But when bad debts get written off, someone has to take a loss.

While some of those debts are held in the US, UK or elsewhere overseas, most of it is held by the European banks, and increasingly by the European Central Bank (ECB).  Germany may end up footing much of the bill

This is the primary reason for the recent loss of confidence in the European banking system.  But while Germany can afford to rescue its banks, as the Irish Republic has already demonstrated but other countries may not be able to save theirs.   I can add to this all of you in Europe get ready to open your wallets because socialism is nothing more than a deep pit that just keeps on sucking all the life out until there is no more.

To set a good example, Germany has even donned the hairshirt itself, promising to eliminate its own modest deficit by 2013.  But here's the problem: Austerity is killing growth throughout Europe.  The central bank considered buying up more Italian and Spanish debt, pumping cash into the financial system and easing the pressure on those countries to slash their borrowing.  But this move has always been strongly opposed by German members of the ECB.

Another option to stimulate growth is for the few other countries that markets are still willing to lend to to borrow and spend more, offsetting spending cuts in southern Europe.  Yet for Germany, who can currently borrow at unprecedentedly cheap interest rates, borrowing is anathema.   Watch and see more is coming and Spain and Italy along with other countries are in deeper trouble than first thought.   All the markets I believe are going to take a huge hit soon over China's false information to be in good standing and they are not.  I have no new information but my gut feeling is global storm is coming and only time will tell .


Inflation is going to sweep across Europe than come crashing into the United States our leaders have failed us in all their lies and promises. 


Start saving your food and water for it will get a lot worse before it get better it always does.
