It has been more than a year since President Obama and the Democratic Congress signed their healthcare overhaul plan into law. After infamously proclaiming, “We must pass the bill to find out what is in it”, Speaker Pelosi’s words have come back to haunt Democrats with voters nationwide. Even those who once supported the President’s landmark policy initiative have changed their minds, as the approval rating for their plan has dropped to 40%.
According to the CBO, premiums will be raised $2,100 for families over the next five years. This increase will hurt our bank accounts, and force us to make tough financial decisions, decisions that we would never be forced to ponder if Obamacare hadn’t been imposed upon us against our will. Doctor-patient relationships as we know them are also at risk, because according to the Department of Human Health and Human Services, 51% of small businesses in the U.S. will be forced to change health insurance providers due to the increase in medical coverage costs.
If Democrats refuse to cooperate and reform entitlement programs, Medicare won't be available to my generation. We will end up paying the bill for a service we will never receive. Medicare’s trustees recently reported that the program’s bankruptcy date is 2024!
President Obama and Congressional Democrats have failed to present a plan to fix Medicare.
Republicans are trying to save Medicare.
